Ingredients
1 ahi tuna steak
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
-
2 tablespoons Morton & Bassett Organic Black Sesame Seeds
-
2 tablespoons Morton & Bassett Organic Sesame Seeds
1 tablespoon avocado oil
1 bag Asian-style salad mix, or your favorite salad blend
Directions
Pat the ahi tuna steak dry with paper towels.
In a shallow dish, combine the rice vinegar and soy sauce. Dip the ahi steak into the mixture, turning to evenly coat all sides.
In a separate shallow dish, combine the black sesame seeds and sesame seeds. Press the ahi steak into the sesame seed mixture, coating all sides evenly.
Heat the avocado oil in a cast iron skillet over high heat for about 2 -3 minutes.
Carefully place the ahi steak in the hot skillet and sear for about 1–1½ minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the steak. For thinner steaks, reduce the cooking time slightly to maintain a rare center.
Transfer the ahi to a cutting board and let rest for 3 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare and plate your Asian salad mix of choice.
Slice the ahi tuna thinly against the grain and arrange it over the salad.
Serve immediately.
