Ingredients
-
Half of 1 Morton & Bassett Organic Vanilla Bean
-
2 tablespoons Morton & Bassett Organic Cinnamon Powder
- 1 ¾ cups buttermilk
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon white granulated sugar
- 2 ½ cups pitted dates, chopped

Directions
Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Add M&B Organic Cinnamon Powder and M&B Organic Vanilla Bean paste. To harvest the paste, score the bean long ways with a knife, then use a spoon to scrape out the contents of the bean. Mix ingredients until well combined.
- Make a well in the center and pour buttermilk into the middle of the dry mix.
- Gently mix with your hands until a sticky dough forms. Continue kneading until a dough ball is created.
- On a floured surface, turn the dough out and press flat. Gradually add dates, fold and repeat until dates are evenly folded into dough.
- Shape the dough into a round and place on the baking sheet. Score an X on top of dough with a sharp knife.
- Place onto a baking sheet to bake for 40-45 minutes. The bread is done when golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, Serve warm with Irish butter.
