Ingredients
- 6 large red apples
- ¼ cup butter
-
1 teaspoon Morton & Bassett Ground Cinnamon
-
½ teaspoon Morton & Bassett Chinese Five Spice
-
¼ Morton & Bassett Whole Nutmeg, grated
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup pecans, chopped
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Slice all apples in half, then scoop out the core and seeds. Set all apples face up in an oven-safe baking dish. Set aside.
In a skillet, add butter. When butter is melted, add M&B Ground Cinnamon, M&B Chinese Five Spice, and freshly grated M&B Whole Nutmeg. Whisk together. Add lemon juice, brown sugar, and salt, then continue whisking together.
Spoon butter mixture over the apples, fully saturating them. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 45-60 minutes, until apples are soft.
Baste the apples with butter from the dish and top with pecans. Set back in the oven, increase the heat to 400°F, and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Enjoy alongside whipped cream, ice cream, or as is.
